Who handles it
Düsseldorf's immigration authority is the Ausländerbehörde in the city's Amt für Migration und Integration (Office for Migration and Integration). The office is at Erkrather Straße 377–389. The city's central phone number is 0211 8991.
Online only
Düsseldorf has moved residence matters fully online:
- Residence permits (Aufenthaltserlaubnis) and settlement permits (Niederlassungserlaubnis) can only be applied for through the new online services.
- Email applications are no longer possible.

- Before you submit, you can use an AI-supported document check to make sure your upload is complete. The city says this helps it process applications faster.
Which online service?
The online services are split by purpose. For example:

For employers
Some changes to employment must be reported by the employer to the Ausländerbehörde where the worker lives. In Düsseldorf this is done through the contact form.
