How we check facts
Official sources first
Every rule, deadline and amount is checked against the body that sets it — laws on gesetze-im-internet.de, federal and state portals, the tax office, the immigration authorities, statutory insurers and city websites. Those sources are listed on every page. Where they disagree with us, they win.
Dates you can see
Every page shows when we last checked it. Amounts that change — fees, thresholds, allowances — are stored once in a central facts list with their source, so one update changes every page that uses them. Pages about rules that change often are reviewed at least every quarter and every January, when many amounts change.
Clear labels
We label each task as one of:
- Mandatory — required by law for the people it applies to.
- Usually required — not a law for everyone, but you will almost certainly need it.
- Recommended — optional, but most people benefit.
- Optional — useful in some situations.
- Depends on your situation — nationality, job, visa or family decide.
What we don't do
We don't give individual legal, tax, immigration, medical or insurance advice. Where your situation matters, we say so and point you to the authority or an advisor. We don't invent prices, reviews or ratings, and we don't publish city pages unless something is genuinely different in that city.
Corrections
If something is out of date, we fix it and update the check date. See our Impressum for how to contact us.
